Decani is a town in the western part of Kosovo. It borders with the municipality of Peja, Gjakova, and the Republic of Albania. It is known for the historic roads between Peja and Gjakova. Religiously seen Decan is known for the Orthodox Church. The territory of this municipality covers 180 km2, and has more than 42 villages.
Decani is located along the main road Peja-Gjakova-Prizren, and has a good geographical position. By rail, Peja connects to the main Balkan artery. The motorway through Peja, Zhleb due Rozaje makes the shortest connection to the Adriatic Sea, while through Gjakova due Prizren it connects with the southern parts of Kosovo and with the national road, with Albania.
Decani is affirmed as a tourist-recreational center. The natural and rare anthropogenic phenomena of this environment represent the complementary tourist motives of the Dukagjini Plain. Interesting and attractive is the fluvialo g-glacial valley of Lumbardhi of Deçan, which, from its source to its location in the White Drin, 40 km long, has a vertical slope of about 2000 m. The whole area around Decani, ie the commodities that surround it, are glacial lakes due to river valleys, which have the shape of a gorge due to being very attractive to visitors. The diverse forests, the numerous pastures, the rich fauna, the fresh clean air due to the Albanian Alps have enabled Deçan to be affirmed as a recreational-tourist center. The tourist valorization of Decani has gained its renown with the construction of a resort at the foot of a mountain surrounded by chestnut pine forests. In the vicinity of the resort there is the gorge of Lumbardhi of Deçan. At the exit of Lumbardhi from its gorge is built the Decani Monastery. The church due to the monastery is not only known for its architecture, elevation, plastic decoration of Roman sycamore in stone with portals around the windows, but even though it is set in a picturesque place.
In the vicinity of the Monastery, in the locality Lloqan, an old wooden house is preserved, which is considered to have been built 200-3000 years earlier than the Decani Monastery. The tourist attraction, location along the important road, the economic development trends of Decani have influenced the administrative reorganization in 1960 to become a communal center. Until recently, Decani had the physiognomy of the village, low-rise buildings of the Dukagjin tower type give it some elements of rural architecture. The intense construction of hotel facilities, school centers, and other buildings for the functioning of the residential administration due to housing changes have changed the appearance of Decani. Along the main road Peja-Gjakova-Prizren a new section of Deçan / Decani has been built.
