Pristina

Prishtina is known as the largest city and the capital of Kosovo. The origin of the city of Prishtina is still unknown, but there are some assumptions that support the Illyrian source of the word, or the Latin one (former pristinus). Prishtina has a population of 198,214 inhabitants. Since the 1960s, Prishtina has been experiencing a rapid urban development that changes its appearance from a small town with Ottoman features to a contemporary city. The 1970s bring a fundamental change in the character of the city, influenced by the opening of the University of Prishtina and increasing Pristina 's political influence by gaining Kosovo' s autonomy and federal factorization in the former Yugoslavia. In these two decades, the neighborhoods Ulpiana, Dardania, Lakrishtja, Bregu i Diellit, Arbëria (former Dragodani) and all the identification objects of Prishtina are built.

The Municipality of Prishtina has 17 public libraries. The main library of the city has approximately 58,475 books and 16 branches: the Palace of Youth, the Memorial Library of the writer Hivzi Sylejmani, the library of "Tales" and, in Llukar, Koliq, Hajvalia, Llaplleselë, Graçanicë, Caglavica, Slivovo and the Year of Marec with 108,541 books, in total with 167,016 books.

Basketball in the post-war years 2000–2005 is one of the most popular sports in the capital. In which sport in the elite of Kosovar clubs, Prishtina is represented by two teams. Prishtina football has a long sports tradition. The leader of this tradition is the team that bears the name of the city KF Prishtina, which plays its local matches at the City Stadium. Taekwondo is also a sport developed in the city of Prishtina, where TAEKWONDO Clubs Prishtina and the Academy of Martial Arts Prishtina are distinguished.

Many residents living in the diaspora visit this facility and locals who with a ceremony have followed the bringing of the statue of Skanderbeg consider it as the arrival of freedom.
