Ferizaj is a city in the south of Kosovo. Ferizaj is also the center of the municipality and the region with the same name. One of the most important factors from the historical past for the formation of the town of Ferizaj and its economic development is undoubtedly the construction of the railway line (1873) and the railway station, a very important line for the transport of passengers and freight, which one time greatly influenced the change in the physiognomy of the settlement making it a city.
History
The city of Ferizaj / Uroizevac is one of Kosovo's newest centers, so its economy has developed in recent years. One of the most important factors from the historical past for the formation of the town of Ferizaj and its economic development is undoubtedly the construction of the railway line (1873) and the railway station, a very important line for the transport of passengers and freight, which one time greatly influenced the change in the physiognomy of the settlement making it a city. The origins of the city's economy begin with a number of activities, mainly crafts and trade. So in 1900, out of 400 houses in Ferizaj at that time, 200 of them were shops. Apart from the tile factory, all other enterprises in Ferizaj were established after World War II.
Geography
Ferizaj lies south of central Kosovo. It represents an important crossroads, because all the important roads that cross Kosovo from north to south and east to west pass through Ferizaj. These roads then continue to neighboring countries and the region. The municipality of Ferizaj / Uroizevac has 720 sq km, has a total of 44 villages, half of which live in the municipality. The largest villages are Dardania Gremja Komogllava, with a population of 6,000. The municipality of Ferizaj / Uro kaevac has approximately 190,000 inhabitants, half of whom live in the city and half in the villages. From other communities live about 3700 inhabitants, mainly Ashkali, Roma, Gorani, Muslim, Serbian, which make up about 2.06% of the population.
