Ethno Fest is a cultural event held in the village of Kukaj during the summer. It all started in 2009 when in the village of Kukaj (a village with only three houses) the film “Border Donkeys” was shot where after it, the actor Bislim Muçaj, amazed by magical sights of this abandoned village buys a ruined house and invites his friend, professor of scenic art, Fadil Hysaj to visit this village. Fascinated by the beauty of this village, Fadil Hysaj buys a plot of land with a house which he covers with stones, while the old house that was used as a pet cot in 2010 will be turned into the first Ethno Theatre in Kosovo. The arrangement of the courtyard, respecting the hilly relief, imposed the creation of cascades which, gave the form and the idea of building a future amphitheatre in which in September 2011 will begin the biggest cultural event ETNO FEST, the festival of Traditional Arts and Culture.
Artists such as: actors, dancers, musicians, cooks, painters and photographers show their artistic creation under an open sky. Within the EtnoFest there is a small festival called AGROFEST and it is made especially for traditional Albanian food. The oldest house on this side serves during the festival as an autochthonous place for chamber conversations, book promotions, ethno performances, exhibitions and theatrical performances 20-26.08.2022
